It is my honor to host the amazing Lisa Harris. Here’s a brief summary of her novel Missing:
Nikki Boyd isn’t usually called in on homicides; her forte is missing persons. But when a case with two murdered and two missing pops up on a quiet suburban street, she’s ready to start the investigation and find missing homeowners Mac and Lucy Hudson. When the first clues lead her to the boat of her friend Tyler Grant–and another dead body–Nikki must untangle what ties Tyler to the Hudsons. The clues pull her into a deadly maze of counterfeit drugs and a killer who will stop at nothing to silence anyone who threatens his business–including Nikki.
And in Nikki’s own words, here’s a chance to see what she’s about.
Interview with Nikki Boyd
I recently caught up with Special Agent Nikki Boyd inside her parents’ Nashville restaurant. Dozens of vintage guitars and retro signs hung on the reclaimed wood walls. One of Nashville’s up and coming artists crooned over the sound system. But I wasn’t there for a meal or for the music. I was there to learn how the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s newest task force was making waves across the state.
“I appreciate your meeting with me.” I shot her a smile, hoping to put her at ease. “I believe it’s important that the public realizes the impact of the missing person task force you’re working on.”
“I don’t normally do interviews, but you’re welcome.” She took a sip of her iced tea. “What people need to know is that for every statistic there is a real person who’s gone, leaving friends and family to face the crisis. Those left behind need someone with experience and resources to step in and find that loved one. That’s where we come in.”I’d read through the statistics. The majority of children who went missing were endangered runaways, with one in five of those victims of child sex trafficking. Ten percent were family abductions. Only one percent were non-family abductions. But I could see in Nikki’s face that it had never been about the numbers.
